Most research indicate that they had ten children - with perhaps as many as twelve children. Robert was a weaver of cambric (a lightweight closely woven cotton fabric) his entire life. He died at age 73 in 1854. He married Christina Wilson on March 18, 1804 in Hamilton, Scotland.

Most of the children of Robert Thomas More and Christina Wilson worked in the same trade as their father as lace makers and in fabric work while in Scotland. Four of their children left Scotland between 1848 and 1850.
