According to a letter written by her mother Bertha to her sister Mae on May 6, 1937, Florence had an operation on March 20, and 6 days later developed bronchial pneumonia, and then went downhill from there. Florence passed just 4 days after that letter was written, at age 36 when her youngest child was only 6 months old.
