William M. "Bill" Miller, 77 years of age, of White Lily, Kentucky, departed this life peacefully on Thursday morning, May 20th, 2021 at the Hospice of Lake Cumberland Jean Waddle Care Center.
Bill was born in Somerset, Kentucky on September 6th, 1943, son of the late Maurice and Maxine Carter Miller. Serving his Lord was always front and center for Bill, he was a member of Colo Baptist Church and a former Baptist Minister of four Churches in Pulaski County, Kentucky (Oak Grove, Sunrise, Buck Creek, and Sinking Valley Baptist). One of Bill's fondest memories was being able to do missionary work in Nigeria, Africa early in his ministry.
Bill proudly served his county in the United States Marine Corps and was stationed in Okinawa Japan and Guantanamo Bay Cuba during the Kennedy Administration. Bill was proud to honor former military servicemen by representing the United States Marine Corps as a member of the Honor Guard in Pulaski County, Kentucky.
In addition to his ministry, Bill was employed by The Palm Beach Company in Somerset, Kentucky. Bill also worked for CNI Wireless and United Church Directories before embarking on a passion for driving which he enjoyed greatly. What started with a school bus for local schools evolved into semis for Super Service in Somerset, Kentucky and Estes Express Lines of Lexington, Kentucky. Bill logged well over 2 million miles behind the wheel prior to retirement touching all of the lower 48 states, Canada and Mexico.
Bill was survived by his wife of 29 years, Rosetta Miller; one son, Bryan Miller (and his mother, Linda Miller) of Louisville, Kentucky; one sister, Judy (and Rev. Bobby) Grant; three nephews, Randy (and Angie) Wheet, Calvin (and Susan) Miller, and Ronnie Miller; one niece, Michelle (and Rev. Steve) Davis; three step-children, Sheila (and Jimmy) Watson, David (and Molly) Mounce, and Lance Mounce; nine grandchildren Jessica Mounce, Justin (and Brittney) Watson, Jerrod (and Shelbi) Watson, Bub Decker, Abbie (and Christian Stringer), Autumn Decker, Destiny Mounce, Garner Mounce, and Lance Mounce; seven great grandchildren, Jameson Wilburn, Brantley Braden, Paisley Watson, Hattie Watson, Allie Watson, Jenson Watson, and Lila Stringer; and a host of other family and friends who mourn his passing.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Maurice Miller, who departed this life on June 28th, 1988 and Maxine Miller, who departed this life on March 20th, 1997; an infant son; two brothers, Calvin "Buddy" Miller, who departed this life on October 9th, 2000 and Gary Miller, who departed this life on November 30th, 2020; one sister, Glenda Thornton; and one niece, Billie Jean Marinakis
Visitations were held from 12:00 noon until 2:00 p.m. on Monday, May 24th, 2021 at the Southern Oaks Funeral Home in Somerset, Kentucky.
Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, May 24th, 2021 in the Chapel of the Southern Oaks Funeral Home with Bro. Aaron Meece and Bro. David Harmon officiating.
Burial followed in the White Lily Cemetery in Pulaski County, Kentucky.
Military Honors were provided by the American Legion Post #38 Honor Guard.
