Carl Phelps died suddenly at Fort Bliss, Texas at the age of 47.
He had been a member of the armed forces for 19 years.
He was survived by his father, Roma Phelps of Science Hill, Kentucky; his step-mother, Martha Phelps of Science Hill, Kentucky; his half-brothers, Edward Phelps of Dabney, Alfred Phelps of Science Hill, Kentucky, Kenneth Phelps of Harrodsburg; his half-sister, Alberta Barron of Dayton; and his step-sister, Stella Miller of West Somerset.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Mattie Eunice (Fulcher) Phelps; his wife, Minnie (Miller) Phelps (married June 9, 1934); and his daughter.
Funeral services were held at the Clay Hill Baptist Church with Reverend H.J. Rider officiating.
Burial was in Clay Hill Cemetery with full military honors by an honor guard from Fort Knox.
