THOMAS J. SEMANS was born July 19, 1828, in Fayette County, Penn. After making several changes, he located in this county in 1857. Mr. Semans was wedded, March 2, 1852, to Rebecca F. Painter, who was born February, 1828, and died nine years after marriage, leaving three children, viz., Augustine, Lydia M. and Florence B. May 19, 1862, Mr. Semans was married again, this time to Elizabeth Burns, who was born February 26,1842. The children of this marriage are Jacob A., Colfax and Ross. This gentleman owns 345 acres of land, and is held in high regard by society. His father, Gilbert Semans, was a native of Pennsylvania, born in January, 1802, married Rebecca Johnson in 1825, and came to this county in 1857.
