He is preceded in death by his parents, Jacob and Margaret Levin, and his brother Jack. He is survived by his wife Eileen; daughters Rachel (Norris) Davis and Rebekah (Tom) Moody; son Benjamin (Lisa); a granddaughter Ruby Davis; brother Mark (Alanna) Levin; and sisters, Rosemary (Bill) Hedlund and Connie (Daryl) Sullivan. He served for the U.S. Army in Germany and married Eileen Croell on June 19, 1971. From 1975-1984 he owned Levin Iron and Metal in Oelwein, IA. Ben served as Mayor of Oelwein for two terms, was a Chamber of Commerce Executive Director and in his later years worked as a carpenter. He was a resident of Omaha, NE for 18 years and a Woodland Park, CO resident for 5 years. After moving to the mountains of Colorado he retired to a life of fly fishing, enjoying the outdoors, woodworking, watching the sunrises over the mountains, and spending time with his family.

Ben D. Levin died December 12, 2009 at the Pikes Peak Hospice in Colorado Springs, CO after a long battle with cancer. He is preceded in death by his parents, Jacob and Margaret Levin, and his brother Jack. He is survived by his wife Eileen, daughters Rachel (Norris) Davis and Rebekah (Tom) Moody, son Benjamin (Lisa), a granddaughter Ruby Davis, brother Mark (Alanna) Levin and sisters, Rosemary (Bill) Hedlund and Connie (Daryl) Sullivan and sister-in-law, Myrt Levin.
Ben D. Levin was born November 8, 1942, in Oelwein, Iowa. He served for the U.S. Army in Germany and married Eileen Croell on June 19, 1971. Funeral services were held Tuesday, December 15, at 10:00 am at Temple Shalom, 1523 East Monument St. Colorado Springs, Colorado 80909 with burial at Sons of Israel Cemetery in Colorado Springs.
