After high school, he served in the military from 7/1918 - 9/1921. He worked as a Sales Clerk and Salesman in Outagamie County, Wisconsin for a number of years, and then had a second stint in the military from 7/1942 - 5/1946. For a time, he was High School Principal at Little Chute, Wisconsin. According to his gravestone he was a master sergeant
